Slow we ride
Into the blue horizon
Just a boy without a plan
& A girl with a heart of flowers
Leaving behind neglect and abuse
Running from the dark shadows of yesterday
Bruises on our bodies
Tragedies in our minds
Dried tears on our cheeks
Hope in our hearts
Holding hands as we disappear into the unknown
Slow car your wheels turn as we ride
Slow car can you hide us from the world?
Slow car never leave us naked and unprotected.

! ! !
Thank you greatly for your comment Carl. Please have a great day.
Touching verse beautifully expressed 🙂
I am rather confused for your mention “Blank verse” as A blank verse does have a set metrical pattern, usually iambic pentameter. Please correct me if i am wrong.
Thank you for bringing this to my attention, this is an obvious mistake. The label of the poem will be changed. Thank you humbly for your comment.
🙂
You are most welcome but It is the least help that one who enjoys your works can render.
The label of blank verse has been taken away. Thank you greatly for bringing this to my attention, I was very tired when I posted this poem. Please have an amazing day.
Hi Mikial. Now that is great. Thank you so much for liking my poem ‘Experiment!’ Best Wishes. The Foureyed Poet.
I really like the straightforward language you use here, Mikial. The honestly really shines through. I also now have Tracy Chapman’s Fast Car, playing in my mind, 🙂
Thank you greatly for your kind words. I really wanted this poem to be straightforward and naked of the abstract nature that many of my poems usually have. Also I very much enjoy Tracy Chapman’s Fast Car. Please have an amazing evening.
Lovely. Reminds me a lot of Springsteen’s “Thunder Road:”
“You can hide ‘neath your covers
And study your pain
Make crosses from your lovers
Throw roses in the rain
Waste your summer praying in vain
For a savior to rise from these streets
Well now, I’m no hero, that’s understood
All the redemption I can offer, girl, is beneath this dirty hood
With a chance to make it good somehow
Hey, what else can we do now?
Except roll down the window
And let the wind blow back your hair”
and Tracy Chapman’s “Fast Car:’
“You got a fast car
Is it fast enough so we can fly away
We gotta make a decision
Leave tonight or live and die this way
So remember we were driving, driving in your car
Speed so fast I felt like I was drunk
City lights lay out before us
And your arm felt nice wrapped ’round my shoulder
I had a feeling that I belonged
I had a feeling I could be someone, be someone, be someone”
Two favorites of mine…thank you for the beauty of your words.
Thank you greatly for your comment & kindness. I am greatly honored to have my work compared to Springsteen’s. Please have a most amazing evening my good friend.
